CANADA’S YOUTH TEAM WINS SILVER MEDAL IN TEAM EVENT AND BRONZE MEDAL IN COUNTRY ALL EVENTS AT THE 47TH TOURNAMENT OF THE AMERICAS Canada’s youth team won the silver medal in the team event and a bronze medal in the national all events at the 47th edition of the Tournament of the Americas. Pamela Beaudin, Henryville, Quebec, Kodee Pilling, Lethbridge, Alberta, Alexandre Thiviege, St-Zotique, QC and Jordan Jung, Burnaby, British Columbia are the members of the youth team.
USA won the team and national all events gold and Venezuela earned the bonze medal in team and national all events. National all events is a combination of all player’s scores in each event by division. The annual event which has been conducted at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando, Florida, concluded today. 12 countries in the Americas competed – Aruba, Bahamas, Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Virgin Islands and USA. Canada earned a total of two silver and two bronze medals in the week-long event. The adult team of Melissa Legault, Sarnia, Ontario, Alyssa Cicconi, Pierrefonds, QC, Terry Krawec, St. Catharines, ON and Dan Tereck, Winnipeg, Manitoba were fifth in the team event and sixth in national all events. USA, Mexico and Venezuela won gold, silver and bronze medals in team event and USA, Mexico and Puerto Rico earned the medals in national all events. Canada’s senior team just missed medals in team and national all events, finishing fourth in both events. Team members are: Elizabeth Wong and Lauraine Fast of Calgary, Alberta and Ken Hunter and Randy Kostenuk of Winnipeg, MB. Venezuela, Mexico and USA earned gold, silver and bronze medals in the team event. USA, Mexico and Venezuela were the national all events medal winners. In the Individual All Events race, the youth team finished the highest with Jung and Thiviege fourth and seventh. Beaudin finished fifth and Pilling was seventh. Legault was eighth in women’s adult all events and Cicconi finished ninth. Krawec was 11th in the adult male division and Terreck finished 15th. In the senior women’s all events, Wong was fifth and Fast was seventh. Hunter finished 10th in the senior men’s all events and Kostenuk was 13th. Kerrie Ducharme–Watson, and Lucien Casagrande, Winnipeg, Mb coached the teams. Casagrande also served as the Canadian delegate.
